Focus on America
Americans expect OUR elected representatives to be OUR Voice in our hometowns, our States and in Washington D.C.
When the People lose their Voice to a politician’s misguided agenda, We The People need to remove from office the elected officials who do not speak for us.
Our forefathers did not intend that Government office enrich and reward the elected. It was designed to insure that the People have a voice for their own good and for their own destiny.
The Great Government Group will help you take action to fix politics on Local, State, and Federal levels to restore the Voice - of The People, By The People, and For The People.
Our political system has been described as government of the People, by the People and for the People. "The People" means each of us - all of us. It means you, me, our neighbors and our friends. Today, many of us don't feel like we're the ones running our government.
That's because "Politics" have replaced People. What is "Politics"? Politics has been defined as, "The activities associated with governing." It also means the debates or conflicts among individuals or parties having power or hoping to get power.
Once elected, many officials abandon their campaign promises and the People who elected them. Instead, they cater to new "friends" at City Hall, in the State Capitol, or inside the Washington, D.C. beltway. When the elected abandon the will of the People, it does great harm to working Americans' lives and our children's futures.
Our elected officials frequently forget that they serve the People first. This disease can only be cured through our united efforts. We must demand that our public officials bring their focus back home to the People. We must hold them accountable.
In order to Focus on America, Americans must first . . .
1. Accept that out of control politics is an American problem that we Americans have allowed -and a problem that Americans can fix.
Imagine you owned a company and wanted it to succeed in business. Wouldn't you want your employees to cooperate with each other to accomplish your company's objectives? Would you keep employees who don't cooperate?
As owners of America, we, the People, have allowed the elected officials, who work for us, to put their own interests ahead of America's interests. There are other solutions to get your elected official's attention.
2. Stop talking and start doing . . .
We can clearly and directly with our elected official in writing. We can date the communication, keep a copy and calendar a response date.
We can follow up in writing, reference our previous communication and attach it. We can communicate that we expect a response and a result. Show that we have copied our friends on our second communications.
Through a “recall” election, in many jurisdictions voters can remove local elected officials from office through a direct vote. "Recalls" are begun by a required number of voters signing a petition.
Through an “Initiative,” we the people can make law. An initiative is the means by which a petition is signed by a legally sufficient number of registered voters who can force a public vote on a proposed statute, constitutional amendment, charter amendment or ordinance.
Initiatives may be either direct or indirect. By a direct initiative, a measure is put directly to a vote after being submitted by a petition. By an indirect initiative, a measure is first referred to the governmental body and then put to a popular vote only if not enacted by that body.
Through a “Referendum” we can remove unjust or unnecessary laws. A referendum is a general vote by the electorate on a single political question that has been referred to them for a direct decision.
In some jurisdictions "Referendum" is used to refer to removing an existing law while "Initiative" is used to describe the putting in place of a new law made by a vote of the people.
