About Michael Barnes, Founder of The Great Government Group
Michael Barnes, like many of us, is not willing to accept the repeated inability of elected officials and government to make any significant progress toward solving the problems we now face.
He believes that we need to strive for “Great Government” to set high standards for our officials. He also believes that it is time to replace elected leaders who can’t or won’t lead effectively.
Barnes knows from experience that for any group to accomplish change it must have a preference for action. He observes that many of us have come to accept talking as a substitute for doing something.
Barnes is married and the father of four grown children. He is a former paratrooper who was wounded three times in Vietnam and awarded the Silver Star. He has also been a businessman and a lawyer. As an attorney he has fought for those who have been injured by substandard government.

About Bill Shaw, Co-Founder of the Great Government Group
Bill Shaw believes that our government needs to be closely directed by its citizens. It is obvious to him that the voters need to place a firm hand on the elected officials and force them to steer a better course to achieve a brighter future for our country.
Bill has been exposed to government inner-workings by serving for 14 years as an elected commissioner for a special district in Florida. He is currently serving his fourth four-year term in that position.
Bill’s family consists of his wife, three adult children, two grandchildren, and a yellow Labrador Retriever. He has been a businessman all of his life. Bill has owned and been president of two construction companies. He also has been employed as an airline pilot. Bill and his wife, Judy, presently own and operate a contracting firm in the Florida Keys.
Some of Bill’s goals for the Great Government Group would be to make audit and legal research teams available. By using these resources, members could find out exactly how their tax dollars are being spent. With advice from the legal teams the members would then have the knowledge to take action and correct irresponsible spending by the government.
Working together as a team the Great Government Group can make a difference and bring about much-needed accountability in our government. Bill believes we must unite and take action now to save our country.
